Welcome to UNESCO in Norway
Norway`s main goals in UNESCO are the following:
- Education for All (EFA) within 2015
- An information society for all
- The development of institutions and capacity development in research and higher education in developing countries
- Culture for development
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in overall charge of Norwegian foreign affairs, including UNESCO policy. The Ministry of Education and Research co-ordinates UNESCO activities in Norway and is responsible for the Education programme and the Science programme. The Ministry of Culture is in charge of the Culture and Communication programmes, while the Ministry of Environment is responsible for implementing the World Heritage Convention in Norway and for matters of environment within UNESCO`s programme.
