Norwegian priorities

Norway promotes Human Rights, sustainable development, democracy, gender equality, conflict prevention and poverty prevention in all it`s UNESCO-work. Norway wants UNESCO to concentrate on issues where the organisation has comparative advantages; normative and ethical issues, capacity development and as a leader and catalyst for global co-operation. Norway strongly supports UNESCO`s reform efforts which are necessary for the organisation.

Norway`s main goals in UNESCO are the following: 

• Education for All (EFA) within 2015
• An information society for all
• The development of institutions and capacity development in research and higher education in developing countries
• Culture for development
