The National Commission
The Norwegian National Commission for UNESCO consists of 16 members appointed by the Norwegian government. The 16 members have special skills in at least one of UNESCO`s four disciplines. The National Commission concentrates on giving advice to the Norwegian government in UNESCO-related issues. It is also active in promoting UNESCO`s ideas and in making UNESCO known in the Norwegian society.
The current Norwegian National Commission was established during fall 2008 and will be in office until 2012. Vigdis Lian is the president of the National Commission.
